#032 - [VIDEO]

[The feed picks up on something out of Cloverfield. The camera is being knocked around and the only images seen are Tsuzuki's bed and Addy and Kia. Thank gods there is no audio, or you'd have to hear the scuffle. Finally, the feed rolls off the bed and onto the floor. The two birds stare at it, at each other, and back again. Hands are seen picking up the camera, and eventually Tsuzuki's face is seen, scolding the birds as the feed dies with a snow screen.]

[[ooc: Yeah, Addy found a gollem in Tsuzuki's room, and Kia was trying to stop her from killing it. That's all for this weekend guys. Don't worry about tagging this entry, unless you feel you need to. I'll be gone all weekend at Neko-con, but I didn't want to ruin my streak! I'll see you all when I come back! /wave/]]

[...This must be the guy with the anti-golem bird Shuuichi was telling him about. Allen switches to audio mode because it doesn't look like that particular golem's camera is working anymore, but he isn't entirely sure audio will get through either.]

Huh? Oh, that's alright. I'm happy with my communicator. Addy isn't too fond of gollems after all. I think this one can be fixed though. Kia kept her from completely breaking it, thank goodness. Eheheh... How did it even get in here is my question...

I know they're doing all they can. I've grown fond of the people here. They've been more than hospitable. I think I've spent night in worse conditions than this back home.

[remembers the Cloverfield-ish glimpse he'd gotten of Addy and Kia]

Oh... Well, they aren't really normal birds. They're my spirit familiars. I can summon multiple ones at a time, but I've kept Addy and Kia around to try keeping me from getting homesick.

No. I'm no sorcerer, I promise. I use Ofuda magic in my work back home. My birds help me track people in my cases.

Ah, I see. I know someone who uses ofuda and isn't a sorcerer either... You can say he's an inspector of sorts. I don't think he can summon anything, though. [And isn't that a shame. He'd rather have birds tracking him than having Link as his shadow.]

Yes, he's... sort of a colleague. I'm afraid I don't know what an onmiyoji is, but I've seen him use ofuda to create barriers and stuff.

I've been on two missions since I came to the Order. I wasn't able to really do much with my Ofuda, since both weren't akuma related. Still, I have to believe I can fulfill my role in this world as I do in my own.

[There's a pause on Allen's end as he takes note of Tsuzuki's tone, the mention of akuma, and fits them together to get a very general idea.]

...May I ask what your role back home is?

To be honest, I was never proud of it, but I always do what I have to. This world doesn't have shinigami to maintain the balance and flow of Life. I want to help all I can. I only wish I could help more...

[takes a moment to absorb this before answering, still in that quiet tone] I hope it isn't presumptuous of me for saying so, but I think it's admirable of you, to wish to return to being what you are ― even if it isn't what you want. I can talk to my colleague for you if you like. Perhaps his knowledge can help you... help this world.

If you think it could be of any help. I am a stranger here, so I don't know how things work as well as you do. An Ofuda practitioner would understand my skills, and perhaps, I could figure out how best to use my power.

He may be able to answer the question of whether your ofuda magic works here. I'm afraid nothing besides Innocence can purify an akuma's soul, but perhaps you'll be able to help fight, at least.

That is what I am trying to find out. Just what can I do here? In my world, I was able to draw out or even force a soul back into a shell. I'm curious to know if my power is weaker here. I've never faced anything like an akuma, but if they're anything like the demons back home, I won't be crushed easily.

Reever told me when I first came here that it was hard to believe in a god of Death in this world. I suppose I don't look like a reaper, huh? Though I have to say I'm glad I don't...

It'll be helpful if you can still do that here. Akuma are basically fuelled by the souls shackled to them, so you should theoretically be able to immobilise one by drawing out the soul... [voice turning worried now] ...but that won't make it disappear, will it?

[a laugh] I'm afraid I don't know what you look like yet, but Reever is usually right.

Oh no! The soul would be attached to my talisman. I've heard that only an exorcists weapon can cleanse an akuma's soul. If you think I can draw them out, then I'll look into it. Perhaps Reever might know something or another exorcists...

Well, I was once... human, so my body still looks like one. It helps when we have to investigate a case to blend in.
