#003 - Video

[Tsuzuki is seen putting his communicator on his desk in his room. His camera angle only shows him, not the desk or anything on it. He appears to have been interrupted from something which he goes back to doing quickly.

[There is no sound, so you just see him staring at something seriously. Finally, he opens his mouth and speaks something. Since it's inaudible, only someone that can read lips in Japanese could possibly have a clue what he said. A soft, purple glow is seen from the desk. He smiles at the event. When it goes down, he reaches for his communicator, pressing the microphone button.]

Ace! Could you meet me in the training rooms? Eh? When did I turn on the camera...?

[He smacks his forehead as he realizes he'd been recorded the whole time. He cuts the feed.]

[ooc: Oo! Tsuzuki is doing weird things in his room! He dropped his device and pushed the button on accident. I sense some curious questions on the near future...]

Tsuzuki came down to the room, finding the pirate. He looked like a jumping bean. He must have been excited. Pausing a moment, the shinigami wondered if he would like what he was about to give him. He shook his head. He didn't have time to worry about that now. He'd already done the spell. No turning back now.

"Have you been waiting long, Ace? Hm!"

"Not that long," Ace shrugged, trying to look calm and casual, even though he still felt like a fireball waiting to burst into flames.

"Well, that's good to know. I got lost for a moment. These rooms are almost like a labyrinth..." After he finished his groaning, he stopped before the pirate. He gave him a look that looked both playful and serious.

"Were you still interested in being my shikigami?"

"Of course," Ace arched an eyebrow curiously. "Why wouldn't I be?" He laughed softly, "Besides if you have me around you might get lost less," he beamed.

"Ha ha! Maybe you're right," Tsuzuki laughed lightly. He produced a talisman from behind his back. It didn't look special to the naked eye, but then again, that would be changing for Ace in a moment.

"Since you aren't a spirit or guardian, I'm going to give you something to make up for that. You have to keep it on you at all times, or you'll lose it's power until you get it back. Understand?"

"Ah?" Ace nodded and put it on with the beads and hat string. He'd been a little amazed at finding Hat after the battle, but it was the kind of blessing he didn't want to question in case it disappeared. "Thank you!" he bowed politely. Virtually everything Ace wore came as a present at one time or another from a friend or crewmate. Mostly because he was always broke usually. Being a pirate didn't pay well if you just burned a ship down without looting it first. "What does it do?" He mentioned it was make up for not being a phoenix or dragon like Tsuzuki's other shikis. Maybe this really meant he was a real shiki now.

"That talisman is a charm that gives you a special gift, Ace." Tsuzuki explained as he walked toward one of the pillars in the training room. "You're strong already. With your powers, you could fight along side and protect me, but there was one thing you couldn't do that my other 12 shikigami could..." He walked behind the pillar and reappeared on the other side, stopping to look at the pirate.

Ace blinked. "Did you just walk... through that?" he tilted his head in confusion and paused. "So this makes me more like a spirit?" The hand holding up the charm trembled slightly. Maybe this meant he really was dead then. But he'd already known that. There was nowhere to go back to and Pops would rather he kept moving forward. And protect who and what he could. "AWESOME," he genuinely grinned ear to ear. "Just show me how!" he eagerly beamed, full of determination.

"Your soul and body are very much alive still, Ace." He ran his arm through the pillar just to show the pirate that he wasn't physical at the moment. "Humans can't see me like this, only my shiki and fellow shinigami. This is my spirit form. The charm you now bare is spelled so that you can not just see me, but you can touch me as well, making you truly my protector." He reached out the very hand he'd gone through the pillar with.

"See for yourself."

"Ah so I can see ghosts?" He wandered over and lightly brushed Tsuzuki's arm to test it. "Wait..." his eyes lit up mischievously, "So you're invisible to everyone else right now?" Far too many possibilities sprang to mind at that.

"Well, this spell is bound to me, so I'm not sure it applies to other spirits." Tsuzuki smiled at the look on the pirate's face. He looked excited.

"Yes, no one else can see or hear me right now. A shikigami can see his master at all times. Now, you're a real shiki. I hope you like it."

"YEAH!" Ace beamed, nodding gratefully. "Thanks! I love it!"

Tsuzuki smiled with a childish sighness. No one had ever thanked him that much before. Hijiri maybe, but he'd messed up badly on that case. It felt nice to be thanked for once. Maybe he could work on being a magnet for disaster...

"I'm glad you do. Remember though, you have to keep it on your person or it won't work." He winked. He was glad he'd chose the training rooms. No one was around to see this, so Ace wouldn't get any where looks... yet.

"I won't lose it!" Ace instantly promised and tightened the string slightly. "Even in prison I still had my beads," he nodded. "So I'll make sure I don't lose this either." He didn't have his log pose anymore, but it wasn't as though it would have done any good in this world.

"Okay then." He glanced around the room a moment. "Think you might be up to showing your master what you got? Hm!"

"Sure!" Ace took an immediate defensive posture. "What do you want me to do?" His fingers teasingly burst into flames.

"Whatever you want, Ace. Hm!" He smiled as he leaned on the pillar. "Whatever you want."

"I'm up for anything," Ace smirked, teasing tone mimicking the words even worse.

"Impress me." He smirked. He had no idea what Ace was capable of. He didn't know how say it any other way. He waved around the room, shrugging.

Impress him huh. A few possibilities once again jumped to Ace's mind, but he shrugged with a laugh. "You've met a phoenix and dragons. I'm not really sure I can do anything to rival that." He lightly poked the broken ribs from Akainu. They seemed mostly healed now, but he was likely to always have a nasty scar and to have to be careful. Small price to pay.

He turned mostly into fire, admittedly not willing to risk going completely into fire in the building without Smoker there to keep him in check.

The shinigami watched in awe as the flames of Ace's body licked wildly about. It was like he was looking at a fire spirit. It took his breath away. He might not be a giant red bird of flame, but there was no doubt that he could be on par if not best a fire spirit shiki. He felt his heart race at the sight. Why was he so excited?

"I can go all the way to fire and create a daienkai entei which is like a small concentrated sun," Ace's voice echoed from within the fire. "Only I don't have the room here. At all. And I can deal with water well." Unsurprising really. "And I can't deal with magma either. Too hot." Or so he learned the hard way.

"I see..." Tsuzuki blinked, trying not to look too dumb. Ace sounded like a fire spirit in every aspect. It was too good to be true. "How did you get your powers again? I think you might have told me once, but a refresher couldn't hurt... right?"

"Devil fruit," Ace said, switching back to human except a stray finger. "Same as Smoker's smoke. And Marco's phoenix. And Luffy's rubber. Oh! And Brooke's resurrection."

"Right. You might be more of a shiki than you think. Hm!" He smiled once his awe began to subside. "And shikigami are very much alive, Ace."
