[Soft whimpering is heard with the faint sound of tapping.]

Oh, how did that nurse do it again? I can't remember how to get back there...

[The tapping stops.]

Wait a sec... It's recording already... Uh, if anyone is willing, could someone help me figure one of these things out? I'm afraid I might break it.

[ooc: Tsuzuki is from the sticks of the Meiji Era, so technology isn't his strong point, even if it was the 'Enlightened Rule'. [TEXT] and [AUDIO] comments will work though.]

Oh, well, that's good to know...

[Stares at the dark blue device in his hands. A soft whimper escapes him as appears to look like a puppy.]

Here it is... I didn't do with the Chief told me to. I don't want to break it...

[Laughs softly, strongly reminded of Luffy and his grandfather.] Okay calm down. Just don't punch it. [Not that he did that himself... nooooo never.] This is how you turn it on so it can start taking orders. See? [Demonstrates on his own so that Tsuzuki can copy.]

[The amethyst eyes watched closely, trying to retain. He looked back at his device, slowly copying the other.]

Like... this?

YUP! [Beams ear to ear.] And you can shut it off the same way. See? [Does so again, just to make sure it'll stick.]

I think I get it... so far. Sorry if I'm a little slow.

That's okay! [Laughs cheerfully.] You're better than my little brother. Not that I don't love him.

Someone is more clueless than me? I feel bad for them.

[Smiles in his mature manner.]

You both must be very close. What's it like having a brother?

[Laughs softly.] Yeah, he's a bit slow. But it's the best feeling in the world. I gotta look after him, because having a little brother like that makes you worry, but I wouldn't change him for anything. I'd give him my life a thousand times over to protect him if I could. [Gulps, realizing just how true that is and turns the device back on.]

Um so this is the one for voice. You can hold it down or just press once and as long as this light is on, it should be recording.

[Blinks at the words. He wonders if his sister felt that way. Shaking his head, he refocuses on the weird machine he was being taught how to use. That was why Ace had come after all.]

O-Oh right. No wonder it keeps recording. I think I've hit that button millions times already. Hm! I'm such an idiot.

[Laughs again and nudges lightly.] Nah, it's fine! Once you press it again it should shut off. But the trick is just to pay attention to the light. If it's not on when you want to record, you're not recording so you have to try again.

Alright. Have you figured out the video function yet? I just accept when people start them.

Yup! It's really easy. Just like the voice button but press down this one at the same time for visual. If you only hit the visual button it goes into text mode. Makes sense, right? Okay! Now you try!

Yeah! Okay!

[Tries it. Cue the "By George, I think she's got it"!]

It works! Ahaha! I did it! Thank you, Ace!

YUP! You did! [High-fives him so that Ace doesn't get overexcited and do something else.]

Any time! [BEAMS.] Here practice those and when you get really good I'll start showing you colors and stuff for text.

Really? Thanks! You're such a great friend!

Aha... really? [Blushes and gets all flustered] I'm not... really... [SO happy he said that.] I mean... thanks.

[Smiles innocently with pure gratitude.]

I wouldn't have figured it out without your help. Hisoka would have given up on me by now, but you knew just what to do and didn't get impatient with me. I'm glad we became friends. Hm!

[Takes Tsuzuki's hand and gives it a quick squeeze, looking at him earnestly.] Yeah. Me too.

[Rubs the back of his own neck.] Like I said, I guess I'm just used to Jii-jii and Luffy. Luffy could have been chewing on his now trying to get it to open. [Sadly, really not kidding, Luffy's done that with treasure chests.]

Oh... Hm.

[Blinks at the gesture. He wonders what brought that on, but he just goes with it.]

Wow, really? He try to chew it?

[Laughs, but doesn't let go either :3] Yeah, he can be... REALLY dim. Once we went fishing and pulled up an empty treasure chest and he kept trying bite it. I mean, I know he's got teeth that can chomp through steel, but he's really insane sometimes.

Hm! Your childhood much have been interesting to say the least!

[Pauses, contemplating if he to say what he wants to.]

Would you mind if I asked if it's hard, being an older sibling?

Ah it was more crazy because of Jii-jii.

Hm... [Thinks for a moment, actually tapping his finger to chin.] Yeah a little, but I wouldn't say it's harder. And the rewards are definitely worth it. You know, like trying to find a rainbow on a really stormy day? Before Luffy came along, I hated everyone and everything. I had no friends, I couldn't tolerate people and I picked fights all the time. I still was that way a lot with Luffy, but with Luffy I had someone to take care of and look out for. He's dim so I worried about him a lot, but that gave me someone to protect. Someone who my life really mattered to. Way more than my life ever meant to me. Luffy was my first real friend. I was really lucky to have him. I wish I could have done a better job protecting him.

[Squeezes the hand again, this time for his own sake.]

[The squeeze made Tsuzuki gasp. He must really miss his little brother. Had Luka felt that way? He would never know, even if he stopping being a shinigami. They would never meet again.]

You did the best you could. That's what matters. I'm sure your brother thinks the same thing. You'll always be in his heart.

[Starts tearing up, really worried about him.]

Ahhh that baka... [Rubs a fist across his eyes, trying to make it look like he wasn't as upset as he felt and ducking low beneath the brim of the bright orange cowboy hat.] He tried to save me from my own execution. Stupid, stupid... Almost got himself killed and then he got me out and I still screwed up. So in the end, I couldn't let him save me even after all that. And Smoker said he's with Jinbei and Marco and they'd protect him, I'm sure of it. But it's not their job, it's mine. [About to start crying so just blinks it away and fights it off with a growl.] That idiot. I swear to god if he blames himself for my screwup I'll find a way to haunt him and kick it out of him. Damn it, damn it, damn it.

Ace... You wouldn't let him grieve...? He will have to, but he will be stronger for it. Marco and Jinbei are your nakuma, right? They protect him for you because they know you would want to protect him.

[Stops. Realizing that Ace needed time to grieve himself, he silenced himself. He gives Ace's hand a squeeze]
